Quarantine Travel - Explore St. Lucia

Updated: Apr 1

St. Lucia is one of those islands that you always see pictures of and fantasize going to, but never know if you'll really make it. Even in 2021, let me be the first to tell you it is 100% possible. One of the things I love most about traveling to St. Lucia is all of the protocols they have put in place to keep both their residents and visitors safe. Some might think it's "doing too much" or "not worth going to right now," but that's simply not true. St. Lucia has one of the lowest COVID rates in the Caribbean. Clearly they're doing something right.

Where you stay is always important and I had the privilege of staying at The Harbor Club by Hilton. The pool alone was phenomenal but the view from the pool made it even better. With 4 pools and the property working under 50% capacity, you’ll never have to worry about social distancing. You have more than enough space at all times. There’s ample outdoor eating areas which I do personally care about. In all honesty, I do not eat out nearly as much as I did BC (before COVID), but I especially care about outdoor seating now. Whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner there was always an outdoor dining option available.

One of my favorite highlights of this property is being right on the harbor. If you’ve been around for awhile, you know I love being on the water and on a boat. We had a really fun excursion to Pigeon Island that our hotel concierge put together quickly and mid-day. We were able to jet ski directly back to our hotel and I have to say that was one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had. Waking up every morning and seeing all of the boats and the sun glistening off the water was perfect. Typically the pictures you see of St. Lucia are on the south side but The Harbor Club is located on the north side and give you even more of a luxury experience.

Some of my favorite locations on the property were:

  • Julia’s : The restaurant on the first floor that we had breakfast at every morning. We sat at the same table for every meal, looking over the boats, mountains and water. They serve all meals, as well.

  • The cabanas at the pool. There are 3 levers to the pool and then a swim out pool that is private. There’s also a swim up bar.

  • The rooftop Sky Lounge. I love a rooftop. There is a large day bed on one side and the views from up there are breathtaking.

  • 14° North: This restaurant was on the top floor and once again, the service never let me down for a second. Even though this is an enclosed space, the measures to keep guests properly socially distanced is always executed and there’s also amazing views. There are floor to ceiling windows so you can still see the harbor and the mountains.

With the new US mandate in place to provide a negative COVID test within 72 hours, the property will have a physician on the property every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8am- 9am and on call every other day. Results will be available within 24-48 hours and it will cost guests $65 USD/per person for an antigen test and $200 USD/per person for a PCR test. Both are accepted by airlines flying into America from international locations.
