The Forgotten Items Packing List

How many times have you pulled up to the airport or entered your Airbnb or hotel and realize you forgot a very important item. We've all done it! Here's the ultimate forgetten packing list so you never have to go through that again.

1. Phone Charger

We all know we can't live without our phones but we seem to leave them plugged in the wall or in the aux port of our car when it comes time for us to leave. If you are staying at multiple places on your trip you might even leave it at the first hotel. Here's a trick my mom always told me (although I still mess up some times too, sorry mom). "If you don't live there, unplug it when it's done charging."

2. Passport

I know this seems self explanatory but even I've done it (no worries, I still went on my trip). Now it's the first thing I pack and it should be the first thing you pack too. It's not something you need everyday, so it's easy to place in your suitcase even if you're taking days (or weeks) to pack. Oh, and make sure you put it in a safe and easily accessible spot!

3. Raincoat/Mini Umbrella

You can check the weather a million times before your trip and a random shower comes through anyway. Better prepared than drenched right?

4. Jacket

You're probably thinking whats the difference between 3 and 4. It's this: raincoats are typically very lightweight. Bring a jacket for the plane ride if nothing else. I don't care where you're going, the flight always feels like the Arctic.

5. Underwear

Again, probably something you think of as a no brainer but I've done it too many times to count. Whether you're going for 3 days or a week my go to number is always 6 now. Thank me later.

6. Headphones

What's worse than watching a movie with no sound AND no subtitles. Nothing! Also, I'm pretty sure you don't want to swipe your card for those terrible $2 headphones. So, always pack your everyday ones (Airpods/Beats/etc.) and a pair of "old school" headphones so you don't have to read lips the whole movie.

7. Toothbrush/Toothpaste

In a rush to get to the airport on time, you do your normal morning routine and drop your toothbrush back in its holder by the sink. Yeah, it happens to the best of us. Hopefully you're at a hotel that has them at the front desk but in case you don't want to use that flimsy toothbrush as soon as you're done brushing - pack it!

8. House shoes/Bunny Slippers

I don't know about you but I wear bunny slippers in my house 24/7 and they always get packed when I go on vaca. Take your usually bunny slippers, slides or flip flops with you. It makes you feel more at home and your feet will thank you.

9. First Aid kit

This doesn't have to be a heavy duty kit but the essentials such as bandaids and medication (prescribed or the basics like Tylenol) and even hand sanitizer. You never know, especially when traveling abroad, if you try something new and happen to be allergic to it so keep that Benadryl on hand and if you have an Epipen DO NOT leave the house without it!

10. Sewing Kit

This is a personal thing of mine but has saved my butt many times. A snag can turn into a huge tear in the blink of an eye. Even if you don't use it, it's one of those things that doesn't take up room or weight and is a great safeguard.

As the saying goes, "If you stay ready, you don't have to get ready." Come back to this blog before your next trip and make sure that you have everything that you need before you leave the house.

Enjoy the journey!
